Smartflow PuroSep TFF

April 17, 2024 by Kerri Peters

Description

The SmartFlow TFF system is an advanced, automated membrane technology designed for efficient solid-liquid separation. Ideal for applications such as fermentation harvest, it filters suspended solids into a thick paste while maintaining high process reliability. The system incorporates modular membrane units capable of accommodating a wide range of microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) pore sizes.

Details

  • It excels in challenging conditions, operating effectively at elevated temperatures (80–90 °C) and across a broad pH spectrum (1–14). These capabilities are combined to deliver a customized, process-specific separation solution, tailored to meet customer requirements.
  • The skid process loop volume is 15 liters with a 30-liter dual purpose mixing tank that is capable of processing batches of 50 liters or can continuously process thousands of liters allowing for support of IBRL’s mid to large scale fermenters.
  • The system is able to operate at 4°C up to 85°C with onboard temperature control and has automated Clean in Place capabilities.
  • Control loops include TMP, Sheer, delta PSI, inlet PSI, Outlet PSI, feed rate, recirculation rate, bleed rate, temperature, concentration factor, controlled permeate flow, diafiltration, tank level control, tank weight control,

This can all be done via automated, repeatable, recipe driven process control, so can scale at IBRL through their larger fermenters with confidence your downstream processing is repeatable with onboard data collection capabilities.

From the Manufacturer

SmartFlow Technologies is a provider of innovative open channel filtration and separation solutions including both complete automated systems and consumable filter modules. The company has a diverse product range of filtration solutions serving multiple growing markets including Precision Fermentation, Nutraceutical, Chemical, Food, Beverage, Renewable Fuels, Process Component Recovery, and Biopharmaceutical production.  Please contact jbell@smartflow-tech.com for a complementary process development consultation session to learn more about SmartFlow’s complete portfolio of capabilities and offerings.

SmartFlow Technologies develops integrated systems to harvest fermentation product lines, producing highly concentrated biosolids and cell free permeates. The systems are optimized for concentration of cellular mass to pass the paint test for solid waste disposal, concentrate extracellular products, and recovery of intracellular products after cell lysis. The fully automated continuous process system designs integrate multiple downstream steps in traditional fermentation harvesting into a single scalable, centrally controlled operation. Control loops include TMP, Sheer, delta PSI, inlet PSI, Outlet PSI, feed rate, recirculation rate, bleed rate, temperature, concentration factor, controlled permeate flow, diafiltration, tank level control, and tank weight control.

By incorporating our custom fermenter manufacturing into the operational scope, SmartFlow can integrate automated process control from media make up, through fermentation, DSP and into final product formulation under a single point of control.
